The ability to manage a large programme of work involving a large number of products. Includes effectively engaging with a consumer based steering committee to identify product feedback and needs based priorities. And to use the steering committee output to guide the product development and delivery activities.
Includes the ability to design solutions for Outback and rural environments. These solutions need to operate in harsh environments and in remote locations. The design aspects include the capabilities listed in this document. The ability to develop a technical solution architecture and to reference all solution designs against this architecture.
Distributed Team Management
The ability for the OPS team to effectively operate while working in distributed locations. This includes the ability to manage work tasks, communicate, resolve technical issues, share knowledge and maintain the positive team culture.
The ability to rigorously validate solution functionality. This includes new functionality resulting from development activities and also the ability to validate the functionality of products owned by end consumers. This includes traceability of testing to product requirements and effective defect management.
Distributed Solution Support
The ability to effectively support a large installed base of remote products. This includes remote monitoring, configuration management, distribution of updates and the recall of defective products.
The ability to ensure solution designs address security risks. The ongoing awareness and monitoring of the occurrence of these security risks.
Data Solution Design
The ability to design effective data solutions given the OPS solution architecture. Typically the data from the remote distributed edge devices will be transferred via the communication network and be retained in the central Cloud based environment. The data solution design needs to ensure rigorous integrity of the data as well as addressing any data quality issues.
Enclosure and Mounting
The design and development of suitable product enclosures and mountings to allow the products to operate in remote and rugged environments. The products typically include solar and battery power solutions.
The ability to select transducers appropriate to the specific needs of the solution. The transducers need to effectively integrate into the overall solution. It is important that the transducers operate reliably in the harsh environments. The transducers typically cover various measurement needs.
The ability to develop advanced processing algorithms to meet the needs of specific solution requirements. These algorithms can be implemented in either software or hardware and are typically designed to identify and detect objects and features within noisy, changing environments.
The design and development of software to run on remote “edge” computing devices, portable computing devices and within Cloud based environments. The software development capability allows the developers to effectively function anywhere globally where there is internet connectivity. Software development is to current industry standards allowing for strict version control and rigorous quality management. Includes software application development.
The ability to select, purchase and incorporate commercial electronic hardware components into solutions. Additionally, the ability to design and develop custom electronic hardware components. This includes the ability to manufacture OPS designed electronic hardware components. All electronic hardware is managed using industry standard quality assurance procedures that control management of identified defects and continuous improvement.
The ability to design and develop communication solutions suitable for remote and Outback environments. Various design approaches are applied depending on the data transfer and solution requirements. This capability includes antenna design and the validation of communications solutions in remote conditions.
The ability to design and manage large scale data solutions. These solutions are typically Cloud based solutions. Data quality and data available both need to be synonymously managed to provide the required data authority.
Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing)
The ability to create custom 3D parts within design software and the ability to print these parts for inclusion in products. A range of print materials are utilised depending on the solution and environmental requirements.
Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence
The ability to utilise advanced Cloud based functionality including machine learning and artificial intelligence. This functionality is applied to the data collected within the OPS solution.
